LinkICE is an easy to use link checker that will assist a webmaster in maintaining relevant reciprocal link pages. It will
check if your link partner is reciprocating a link back to you as well as determine if dead reciprocal links are on your site.
Unlike most free online reciprocal link checkers LinkICE does not need to know the
exact url of where your link is expected to be in order to confirm it's presence.
Since LinkICE searches more than one page per site your link will be found if the site's webmaster had decided to place it on another page.

In addition, by using LinkICE, it's possible to determine if the inbound links, i.e. reciprocal links,
to your site are beneficial or not. Google uses an algorithm more critical of inbound links than it had in the past, where a link from a reciprocal links page with more than 30 links and not from a site with
related content may even be detrimental to your ranking.
Optimally you would want the converse - links that are from a link page with 30 or so links and originating from a similarly themed site.
This way you would gain points versus a potential erosion of PageRank or at least keep the status quo.
These pages should have relevant copy on them as well and not be merely comprised of a list of links.
LinkICE will let you know if your reciprocal link partner's pages are constructed with PageRank in mind.
Manually checking for reciprocating links on your partners' web sites is a time consuming process. It can certainly take many hours if you happen to have hundreds of links. LinkICE may spend many hours as well searching websites to confirm if your link is being reciprocated in order that you don't. If you do not have reason to expect that the majority of the "reciprocal links" on your site will be reciprocated or your site is a directory then please refrain from using this service unless you are willing to pay (inquire). Reasons to not expect reciprocating links would include, most specifically, never being in contact with potential partner sites to ask about exchanging links with them or not getting a positive reply upon contacting them. My experience has been that only a small percentage (15% or less - emphasis on less) will be reciprocating. This would be common with Link Farm exchanges. Besides, using Link Farms is not a recommended way to promote site traffic - it's considered spamming by some search engines.
If you are at least inspecting the reciprocal links on your site every now and then to see if they are related in some meaningful way then, submit it. |
